Game
In the Western Long Island Sound there are a wide variety of ducks, from Canadian Geese, Brant, Long-tailed Ducks (also known as Oldsquaw), Bluebills, Buffleheads, Goldeneye, Canvasbacks, Mallards, Black Ducks, Gadwall, Wigeon and Mergansers.
Hunting Options
Hunt out of the 19' Duck water boat (max 3 people) or out of our custom heated floating duck blind (max 4 people).
Gear
Acceptable Shooting Guns:
20 or 12 gauge shotgun
(We are able to rent guns at your request.)
Ammunition: Steel (or other non-toxic shot)
3" #2s, 3s and 4s are recommended
Licensing
A NYS small game hunting license is required as well as a federal duck stamp. Also you will need a HIP# which is free with your license.
Clothing
Warm, waterproof hunting clothing and waders will be the best at keeping you comfortable, but any dark clothing will do. Gloves, hats and face masks are extremely important due to the frigid temperatures that can occur. We do have heaters in the boat and blind, but remember that it can get extremely cold in the late season. We always recommend layering clothing so you will be ready for various conditions.
